About HISU

Hebei International Studies University (HISU), located in Shijiazhuang city, Hebei province, is a full-time and exclusive international studies university of Hebei. HISU is one of the eight demonstration universities in Hebei for the transformation and development.

I. History

Founded in 1998, HISU was initially named Shijiazhuang United College of Science and Technology. In April 2001, the pilot diploma education began. In January 2003, it grew to be Shijiazhuang Vocational College of Translation. Since 2011, a great stride was made and it was upgraded to an officially degree-granting university, and renamed Hebei International Studies University (HISU) in March 2012. In May 2015, HISU was listed as a bachelor's degree-granting unit. And in December 2016, HISU was listed as a master's degree-granting unit in its construction phase.

II. Campus

HISU covers an area of 1496805 square meters, as a world park university that combines diversified cultures, integrated educational industries, and globalized teachers and students. HISU has been recognized as a demonstration of Hebei in production, teaching and research. The campus boasts spacious teaching buildings, dormitory areas, sports facilities, leisure and entertainment zones, internship and training zones, library, residences for staffs and apartments for foreign experts. The infrastructures satisfy our mission of engaging in international high-end technology, talents and projects, turning our campus into a modernized provincial-level demonstration base with platforms, incubation, smart, and industry-education-research integration.

III. Academics

HISU has a strong faculty core composed of masters, doctors, professors and academicians that supports more than 141 academic programs spread across 16 degree-granting schools. HISU offers 8 disciplines including literature, economics, management, education, art, medicine, engineering, and sciences and has formed professional clusters featuring foreign languages plus majors, focusing on applications.

Spanish is rated as the provincial key major, and 14 recognized as the provincial first-class majors including French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Korean, software engineering, preschool education, nursing, financial management, German, Portuguese, English, Japanese and construction cost estimation. 1 program has been accredited national ranking for excellence in academics, in addition to 10 provincial first-class, 3 provincial online open and 3 provincial level demonstrative programs. There are 4 national level cooperative education projects.

IV. International Cooperation

HISU has employed 9 foreign academicians, 71 foreign teachers, of whom 2 are of the top hundred talent project, 3 are winners of Yanzhao Friendship Awards, 1 has been appointed consultant for Shijiazhuang city government, and 2 have met with Chinese former premier Li Keqiang and vice premier Han Zheng.

HISU has signed agreements with 427 world-known universities in 82 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Russia, India, Spain, Portugal, Japan, Republic of Korea, Canada, Brazil, Cuba, League of Arab States, and ASEAN in international cooperation and exchanges at the level of undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees, scientific research projects, and industry-education integration.

HISU has set up a number of research and cooperation platforms, such as Hebei Translation Society, Hebei Foreign Academician Workstation, Hebei International High-end Talent Exchange Association, Hebei International Technology Transfer Center, and Hebei Provincial Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, to provide more opportunities for researchers in the transformation of the academic achievements on Belt and Road initiatives.

V. HISU Offers 75 Languages

HISU gives a full play of its unique features by offering 75 languages, covering 65 countries along the Belt and Road, i.e., official languages of the 92 countries participating in the Winter Olympics. Using the 75 languages as a driving force, HISU adheres to the principle of offering specialized programs with innovative foreign languages. First, multiple language majors are offered alongside the professions. Second, 1+2 models are supplied of professional foreign language + English + minor language or major + English + minor language. The sole purpose is to enable our programs and talents to effectively match the needs for industries, export-oriented economies, the Belt and Road construction, coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, China-Latin America cooperation, China-Africa cooperation and global development, respectively.

HISU has now offered 75 languages, namely, English, Japanese, German, French, Thai, Russian, Vietnamese, Korean, Burmese, Dutch, Finnish, Polish, Icelandic, Swedish, Rundi, Fijian, Hindi, Czech, Lao, Greek, Zulu, Hausa, Persian, Malay, Crna Gora, Mongolian, Danish, Norwegian, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Arabic, Ukrainian, Cambodian, Filipino, Sinhalese, Nepali, Hungarian, Urdu, Tswana, Rwandan, Yoruba, Somali, Lithuanian, Turkoman, Pashto, Turkish, Hebrew, Slovak, Romanian, Bulgarian, Serbian, Belarusian, Uzbek, Tamil, Kazakh, Bengali, Latvian, Tajik, Slovenian, Azerbaycan, Kyrgyz, Amharic, Swahili, Armenian, Croatian, Bosnian, Albanian, Indonesian, Tamazight, Malagasy, Lingala, Ibo, Wolof, and Shona.

VI. Social Services

HISU has been continually carrying out for years on end the training in entrepreneurship and employment for ex-servicemen of Hebei, high school English teachers in Hebei, Party members organized by the CPC Hebei Non Public Economy and Business Association, high school English teachers from developing regions in Hebei, chambers of commerce directly under the Hebei Federation of Industry and Commerce, business English for employees of China Telecom, and 15-language training for talents of Bank of China Hebei Branch, hence providing high-quality services for the development of enterprises and institutions.

In 2022, HISU designated over 3000 volunteers in all venues of the Beijing Winter Olympics, and earned praises from the Provincial Party chief Wang Dongfeng. Since 2005, HISU has served in the manner of translations for each and every China Wuqiao International Acrobatic Festival, China-Central and Eastern European Countries Local Leaders Conference, China International Digital Economy Expo, 6th China International Logistics Development Conference, China International General Aviation Expo, 10th World Chinese Media Forum, Hebei International Biomedical Industry Cooperation Matchmaking Conference, China (Hebei) Switzerland Financial Open Innovation Forum, Annual China (Langfang) International Economic and Trade Fair, and any other foreign language related opportunities sponsored by provincial public security, legal and judicial departments, and multinational companies in Hebei. HISU has promoted the establishment of friendly city relations between Shijiazhuang and San Cristobal, Dominican Republic. Owing to our liaison, Mayor Ma Yujun of Shijiazhuang officially signed a contract at the China International Digital Economy Expo on November 17, 2022, with Mayor Montas of San Cristobal, the 12th international sister city of Shijiazhuang.

VII. Smart Campus

HISU has completed its construction of a smart campus network, which includes a ten gigabit core, a gigabit desktop, and full coverage of wired and wireless fiber optic networks. The campus network has an exit bandwidth of 4.2G with 83 kilometers of fiber optic cables laid, creating a highway for data transmission throughout HISU. Four functional areas have been formed, including the wired, wireless, and 5G network base station integration room, big data center, private cloud pool, and blockchain trinity information storage cabin, smart brain, and management decision-making cabin, providing effective support for individualized learning, lifelong learning, and educational modernization.

VIII.  Honors

HISU is a 5A level Chinese social organization and has been recognized for three consecutive years as a Chinese Private University with Tremendous Social Influences, and Chinese Model University with Tremendous Social Influence in Employment. Besides, HISU has also been awarded Hebei Province Talent Introduction Demonstration Base and Postdoctoral Innovation Practice Base. In addition, a series of HISU-based institutions are established. Namely, Postdoctoral Research Station in China has been established jointly by the Cuban Academy of Sciences and the Cuban Academy of Historical Sciences. Hebei Province International Technology Transfer Center, Hebei Entrepreneurship University, Hebei Province College Student Entrepreneurship Incubation Park and Hebei Province Deepening Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform Demonstration Center are approved by concerned authorities.

HISU has achieved a unanimous recognition in education, teaching and research, repeatedly reported by CCTV, Xinhua News Agency, People's Daily, China Education Daily, Hebei Television, Hebei Daily, Vietnamese National Television, and Cuban National Television.
